SSBB at the 30th Annual Vintage Tractor Road Run

Staffordshire were the hosts of the 30th Annual Vintage Tractor Road Run on Easter Sunday having been chosen to be the hosts in early 2016.

The tractor run raises money for charity and the organisers of the 2017 event chose to support the Midland Air Ambulance, Stafford Samaritans, the Donna Louise Hospice and our very own Shropshire & Staffordshire Blood Bikes – Serving Cheshire.

SSBB were involved from the launch when members Helen and Nigel B attended a photoshoot on a very cold January day in 2016 in the middle of Seighford Airfield, Stafford. Raven was on show that day.

It was a bit warmer when members Oliver B and Debbie S supported the mini tractor run in July 2016 and Debb had her picture taken on the tractor which was to be first prize in the raffle.

Everyone congregated at Seighford Airfield early Easter Sunday. Tractors as far as the eye could see! All different colours and sizes, some with trailers sporting settees and chairs for passengers, some open to the elements and some with toasty warm enclosed cabs!

Ribbon cutting was at 9.30am by members of the four charities and they were off!! Around 350 tractors making their way into the countryside, returning for lunch, then off again to complete the day. Local villagers looked in awe as the parade rolled past expecting the next tractor to be the last one!

It was pretty evident from the atmosphere that all the participants were enjoying the day. 350 beaming tractor drivers waved continuously at the supporters at the roadside. The organisers gave a warm welcome to SSBB and the other charities and our very own SSBB rider Colin H led the parade on Edward, his own FJR1300.

A day to remember.
