On Friday the 26th January the Bickerton Poacher in Bulkeley, Cheshire held its annual Burns Night celebration, with the proceeds going to local charities.
The evening was a great success, with guests enjoying a wonderful Burns supper with entertainment from the obligatory bag pipes!
Shropshire and Staffordshire Blood Bikes (SSBB), who also serve Cheshire, were one of the two charities chosen to benefit from this years event, and were recently presented with an amazing donation of £2300 raised from the evening.
SSBB are a 100% voluntary charity, who have been serving Countess of Chester Hospital for the last 12 months with urgent deliveries of blood products between the countess and The National Blood and Transplant Centre in Speke.
A delegation of volunteer riders from the charity visited the pub this week to receive the cheque and hand over a certificate of thanks to General Manager Jamie Williams and Head Chef Sean Martin. The riders also brought the Cheshire Area bikes ‘Angel‘ and ‘Jo Jo‘ along for the ride.
Cheshire area Leader Andrew Barnard said “Many thanks also to Tracy Williams, the owner of the Bickerton Poacher, and all of her staff for the fantastic fund raising effort.” He added “Our service is relatively new in Cheshire, so it is great to see awareness of our charity is growing in the area, and local people taking us to their hearts and supporting us”.
