SSBB at The Square, Shrewsbury – 29th October 2016

Posted on Updated on

On 29th October, Shropshire & Staffordshire Blood Bikes had a phenomenal day in The Square Shrewsbury.

We always have a welcoming response for shoppers and visitors, who generally want to know more about our charity. This was evident right from the get-go, as by the time we had set up at 08.30, we were already having coins rattling into our buckets with comments of praise.

Our stall was set up with the added bonus of our SSBB Christmas cards on sale! There was a steady stream of SSBB volunteers arriving, ready to help, the Square was buzzing with activity.

By lunchtime, Stephanie L-C, a supporter of SSBB, who wanted to raise money for our charity by generating donations to her “Just Giving” page, by having her lovely long blonde hair shaved off in public!!! Furthermore, Stephanie donated her hair to the “Little Princess Trust” charity, that makes wigs for children who have lost their hair due to illness. Martin Wood the Shrewsbury Town Crier, offered his services to help generate an audience for this event, with the hair cutting carried out by Emma from “Chelssie” hairdressers from Telford.  It goes without saying this was a brave thing to do, especially in public, and we hope that she meets her target on her Just giving page,  if you would still like to donate, please visit here. Many thanks Stephanie & Alex.

Steve & Mandy C would like to thank all our hard working and dedicated  volunteers who gave up their time to help on the day (we had fun!) David O, Brian S,  Emma R, Sandy H, Gordon H, Sam & Barrie W, Roy B, Helen G, Dennis S, Helen & Nigel B, Lynn S, Paul C and Dave P, without them we wouldn’t have achieved the amazing amount £1377.65
