Our Chair, Helen B, was pleased and intrigued to receive an invitation to meet Andrew Hayward, MD of Russell Roof Tiles of Burton on Trent recently. The company, who celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2015, offer a growing range of roofing solutions for both commercial and housing projects and their clients include all of the major national house builders, numerous local authorities, Primary Care Trusts and care home providers.
Andrew explained to Helen at their meeting that the company wanted to make a contribution to their local area in particular, and that their site in Lochmaben, Scotland was doing the same.
“Employing 170 people in three locations in England & Scotland producing all our products is no mean feat, to engage with them all on a common goal is not easy when there are so many worthy causes.
However we felt if we were to get more engagement with them then it was important that the charities chosen firstly were active in in their local communities.
Secondly that the charity then chosen was doing an important job in the community that affected all our employees and their families.
Thirdly, and most importantly, the charity was voluntary and we could see how small sums raised could be so vital to them.
Both Blood Bikes Association do amazing life- saving voluntary work 24/7 in our communities and indeed all over the country, it is incredible to think that a service like this we all take for granted relies on so few dedicated, committed kind-hearted individuals.
Without their unstinting dedication there is no doubt lives would be lost that affect us all, I am delighted we at Russell Roof Tiles can in some small way attempt to contribute across our business to such a worthwhile and necessary cause this year.”
SSBB are delighted that Andrew has confirmed that we are going to be the Burton site’s nominated charity for 2016 and we know that the Lochmaben site will be supporting Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes.
We look forward to supporting Andrew and his team during the year by attending their fund raising events which will give us the opportunity to meet his staff and tell them more about the work we do, in particular, for their local hospital, Queens Hospital Burton.
Phil S and Neil S called by for a photo opportunity at Andrew’s invitation and, as soon as the photographer had finished, Neil was called away to QHB for an urgent pick up for delivery to the NBT in Birmingham.
We really look forward to meeting their team as the year progresses.
