It is not what most people would call the best time of year to go camping, but a couple of hundred hardy souls ventured from far and wide to attend the Oddalls MCC 18th Frozen Balls Up Rally during the last weekend in February, which they extended an invitation for SSBB to attend with our promo stand, which we gladly accepted.
And by jingo it was rather cool, but fortunately the weather was kind enough to stay dry all weekend for everyone.
Over the past 18 months or more, The Oddballs MCC have been big supporters of SSBB, holding several fundraising events, (Charity bike rides, dinner parties etc) and personal donations. This support has even cascaded out from the clubs members to some of their family members that are and have raised some considerable donations for SSBB. So it warmed our hearts to find that a young woman named Daisy, pitched up in the control tent with a sizable tombola, raising money for both the Air Ambulance and SSBB. We applaud you Daisy for your kindness and we hope you’re an inspiration to others.
So with all this in mind, the very least we could do was to accept the offer of spending a weekend in a field with such wonderful and hospitable folks. Its always a pleasure to chat with like-minded bikers, exchanging stories of past exploits and future plans whilst continuing to spread the news of how SSBB has grown and continues to grow from our ‘birthday’ 2 years ago.
A handful of SSBB members braved the cold to man the stall through Friday and Saturday, Mark S came Friday, whilst Paul C and Gary S popped in on Saturday. Tracy H came by in the evenings to join Jon H who braved the whole weekend, but didn’t manage to camp over though. Paul was also the duty rider and had completed Gary’s assessment ride for him to become the latest of our younger members to be able to make deliveries.
