Please see an urgent message from SSBB Controller and Fundraiser, Mandy C, regarding roadworks between Oswestry and Shrewsbury.
I have become aware of a road closer, due to unfortunate event that happened to Paul C last night, where he came across a non-diverted, road closure on the A5 near Montford Bridge, Shropshire, which caused him a unforeseen long diversion.
I have contacted to Highways Agency about this and have logged on their website also to have notifications of new updates of road closures in the future.
Alternative routes from Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, avoid Road closed at Montford Lane to Wolfhead roundabout on the A5 (Closed from 6th January to 15th February between the hours of 20:00-06:00).
Route 1: 25.6 miles.
Head to B5009, signed for Whittington. Turn onto the A495, Ellesmere follow the main road which changes A528 that take straight in to Shrewsbury centre, (signs can be picked up for the hospital) after turning right after going under the under the bridge by the main Shrewsbury railway station A458, onto the B4586 to the RSH.
Route 2: 22.4 miles
Follow the route on to the A5 turn at Shottattan cross roads to Ruyton XI towns, follow B4397 to Baschurch, turn right at the crossroads in Baschurh, B5067 to Shrewsbury. Turn right on to A528 then turn right under the bridge and follow route through town centre as read on route 1.
I hope this helps and if there is any confusion about this I am willing to try to help.
