This week we are to be treated to three reports from Helen B who has been exceptionally busy organising and partaking in a number of winter SSBB events. The first of which was a musical outing to Bridgtown, as described below!
SSBB were delighted when the Bridgtown Concert Show Band made the decision to nominate us as their charity for the forthcoming year.
Musical Director, Shaun Middleton, had previously attended a presentation given by SSBB members Helen and Nigel B. He approached his band members and told them all about us and they decided they wanted to offer their support for SSBB.
Their first event of “Our” year was their popular “Concert and Roast”evening. An amazing selection of music performed by the band themselves and followed by a demonstration from some talented hand bell ringers and the finale, from the band, of Christmas carols with audience participation!!! A great start to the festive season.
Pork baps and mince pies were also on the bill during the interval following a short talk on SSBB by controller Helen B. Before the finale the grand raffle took place with an array of prizes never to be seen before!!
SSBB members Helen B, Nigel B, Lynne S and Mark H. took the opportunity during the evening to chat to the other members of the audience. One guest wanted to know if Nigel actually did sleep in his leathers to ensure a quick response time! Star guest for the evening was “Elsa”, Nigel’s bike, who was parked inside the hall to allow guests a close look at a blood bike.
Following the concert Shaun has advised Helen that SSBB will soon be receiving a cheque for £430.00 from the concert proceeds.
Thank you Bridgtown Concert Show Band. Your sponsorship is hugely appreciated and we very much look forward to supporting you, supporting us, during the next twelve months!
