It Started With Tea, Coffee & Biscuits!!!!

Good Evening All

Yesterday saw our the first of our new style rider & controller training sessions run by pro-active volunteer and SSBB Training Coordinator, Helen B. The evening was a huge success and I am sure will be the start of a series of such events, run on a regular basis, to bring new members up to speed with what the various roles entail, and also for existing members who may wish to have a refresher every so often.

It Started With Tea, Coffee and Biscuits  …………..

Gnosall Fire Station was the venue of the latest training evening for SSBB. Although normally a training night for the fire fighters on a Tuesday they kindly changed their plans to accommodate us. Superb facilities for training (and coffee drinking!). We will certainly be taking up their offer to utilise the room again for future meetings and we promise not to ask for a Tuesday!!

It was a great opportunity for new members to get up to speed on procedures and also to meet more experienced riders and controllers. Chris P, (Chair) gave a short talk on SSBB so far and then trainer Helen B delivered an introductory presentation covering controller duties expanding into rider territory to accommodate new members future roles within the charity.

We were pleased to welcome Gary S (Controller), Steve S  (Rider), Michael P (Controller), Guy N (Rider), Roger M (Rider), Steve H (Rider), Howard P (Rider) and Arthur B (Rider).

After the training and more coffee new members took the opportunity to talk to other members of the SSBB team who were on hand to support the training evening. Ben W,  Nigel B, Lee C, Paul C, Andy W, Zoe W and Chris P all lent their expertise to answer questions.

We look forward to supporting our new team members in due course as they undertake their new roles and to meeting them again at future meetings and events.
