Tuesday Greetings One and All
Last night saw the second meeting of the Staffordshire Working Group which was a very successful meeting. When I returned home I was reminded that I had not yet posted an event report for an event that took place at the end of June. That “Shot in the arm” did the trick and the subsequent report, written by Jonathan H who attend the event on behalf of SSBB, is below!
Today (29th June 2014), I was privileged to represent SSBB at a small organised rideout/BBQ held at Hilton Brook Residential Home near Bridgnorth, organised by (Uncle) Ben Wenlock and family along with all the staff at the home helping out too.
This is an annual event for raising funds, partly for the residents comfort fund and another charity of choice. This year Shropshire and Staffordshire Blood Bikes were to be the recipients.
The day started with 15 or so riders, some with pillions and some none riders gathering at the Shifnal War Memorial Club, followed with a quick “How do you do”, then when all were ready, we set off for our first destination, Lynn’s Raven Cafe.
After a jolly jaunt along the A41 and quick bite to eat (No belly busters this time!), we continued on along the A49 to Shrewsbury. A quick dash up the A5 and off on to the Bridgnorth road through Cressage and Much Wenlock.
Next stop was The Wheel at Worfield for a splash and dash of your favored tipple.
A quick phone call to the home would present us with a welcoming committee of staff and residents all eager to see (and hear) the arrival of the group. As always, everybody was made welcome, with a raffle, cake stall and BBQ to finish the afternoon off in the grounds of the home.
A huge thanks to all involved with the organizing and decking out the care home in SSBB colours! With everyone’s kind donations and cake indulgence, a total off £125.50 was donated to Shropshire Staffordshire Blood Bikes. Huge thanks to all once more.
Thank you Jonathan for this fabulous report and what looks like a wonderful day out. I would like to reiterate our thanks, from everyone at SSBB, to the staff and residents of Hilton Brook for their kindness and generosity and, as I am sure Jonathan can attest to, wonderful cake baking skills!
