SSBB: More Services in Prospect!

Good Evening Ladies & Gentlemen

Several of our committee members have been out in force over the past couple of weeks exploring how we might be able to support other patient care establishments in our communities. Here is a short report about these activities from Chris P.

Over the past few weeks SSBB have been discussing how the group might support patient care in other establishments.

Russ, Sandy and Chris went to the Bicton site of the Severn Hospice to share information with the nursing team.

Russ took “Gerhardt” and showed the bike and equipment to the nursing team. Helen was particularly interested and took the opportunity to see for herself what riding a blood bike is like, albeit stationary. Over the coming weeks will be continuing our talks with Heather Palin, Director of Patient Services.

In a second meeting at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital at Gobowen, Sandy and Chris made a first presentation to the senior nursing team led by Julie Roberts, Assistant Director of Nursing.

This was well received by the Trust and the team and has brought an invitation to SSBB to be present at the Friends Garden Fete at the end of June. Further talks are in planning to explore the use of SSBB by the hospital, well known for its work in operations such as hip joint replacements.

Adding additional establishments to our network of supported trusts, hospitals and other patient care providers is a great feeling. However, we are only able to do so if we have the volunteer workforce to cope with the additional demands, so if you, or anyone you know, might be interested, please get in touch and join us!
