Good Evening All
In my bid to catch up on EVERYTHING SSBB have done recently, here is the next report in this weeks mini-series! Tonight we have a review on the Beartown Bikers 6th Charity Ride Out, which took place almost a month to the day (Sorry for the delay!), and once again this has been beautifully authored by Helen B!
The Beartown Bikers Charity Ride Out 2014
And what a ride out it was!!!
It is not often you see the Mayor riding pillion on a motor bike during a parade, but Councillor Denis Murphy, Mayor of Congleton, donned kit and rode with a Beartown Biker member with the rest of the 79 bikers on a very wet, and I mean wet, 74 mile round trip journey through the Staffordshire Peaks and North Staffordshire Moorlands starting and finishing at the Church House Inn, Congleton.
A lifetime first for the Mayor!! In addition, his consort Nathan, rode pillion on the back of Blood Biker Phil S. A good time was had by all, although a little damp!!!
Four SSBB bikers were proud to lead the parade including two marked bikes. Andy W, an SSBB committee member had been approached last year by Stuart Brittain, Chair of Beartown Bikers, following a presentation about SSBB given by Andy, to say they had decided to support SSBB at this event which was their 6th Annual Rideout.
Whilst the weather was against them, the supporters enjoyed the ride which was brilliantly organised and well marshalled and then took part in various events back at the Inn. Raffle, tombola, cake stalls and an auction all raised funds towards an incredible final figure of around £2000 which will be formally presented to Andy later this year.
All we can say is a massive thanks to all you guys and gals at Beartown. You did us proud!!
Mustn’t forget Beartown member Martin Kelly who put himself through a “dryathon” during February and raised another £600 for our charity. Martin, cheers mate !! You did us proud too and we thank you!!!
