What a glorious couple of days we have had. SSBB have made the most of the recent good weather and have attended a number of local events. I am going to begin the “Round up” with our most recent event, the Gnosall Carnival. Over the course of the coming week I will then publish the reports from the other events so that those unable to come along can get a real feeling for what we as a charity have been up to of late! Once again, thank you to Helen B for this report!
SSBB riders were invited to lead the Carnival procession through the streets of Gnosall before joining their fellow members at the SSBB stand on the school field.
The beautiful weather had tempted the local residents out onto the streets to view the parade before arriving en masse for the float judging and to enjoy the afternoon’s entertainment. Typical English stalls of cakes and plants and tombola and bottles, guess the value of coins in the jar, guess the name of teddy and many more as well as the main raffle, the dog shows and events and activities in the main arena.
SSBB members were busy talking to many Gnosall and local residents about the work we undertake and we are delighted to have received three completed applications for new riders together with photos and £10 joining fees, one rider already having an IAM qualification. More application forms were taken away by potential riders and two controllers which we hope to receive back in due course.
Our riders on the day were Howie J, Phil S, Oliver B and Mark H. Assisting on the stand were Helen B, Nigel B and Adam E with Lynne S running the “Coins in a Jar Game” for the Carnival committee. A warm, busy and productive enjoyable day for us all.
The Carnival, being a church event, was not about fund raising for us but to raise awareness and to invite volunteers to join our cause. Thank you to the Carnival Committee for allowing us to take part and thank you Gnosall, you did us proud!!!
There is nothing more I need to add! Great day, great event, great people!
