And Then The Sun Came Out!

Posted on Updated on

Good Morning All

Two events took place this weekend, the Stone Carnival and the St Luke’s Hospice Fundraising Ride Out, the latter being our first event in neighbouring Cheshire! Here is a round up of the weekend courtesy of Gary C (Stone Carnival) and Helen B (St Luke’s Hospice) .

Stone Carnival:

Took place on Saturday 14th June. A beautiful sunny day (at first) and very well attended. Shropshire and Staffordshire Blood Bikes were invited to join in the parade, a job well handled by Ben W and Nigel B. Whilst Nigel and Ben were enjoying themselves on their bikes Andrew B and Gary C were working tirelessly in scouring youngsters to have their photographs taken on the mini moto or buying a ticket in our lucky dip raffle to try and win the JCB digger, other prizes also drew in the parents to try and win the Triumph mugs and T shirts also on offer.

Several people showed an interest in becoming either members or controllers which is great news and we shall follow these up in due course.

All in all a successful day with good company and friendly banter with the carnival goers plus the benefit of raising just over £95 for group funds.

St Luke’s Hospice Ride Out:

A cloudy start to Sunday’s SSBB presence at the event held at Nantwich Town Football Club’s ground. Gary C, Nigel B, Helen B, Oliver B and Ben W represented us with a fully equipped SSBB stand, mini moto and a straw raffle with donated raffle prizes.

Organised by South Cheshire Motorcycle Club the day involved their annual 20 mile charity ride out in aid of St Luke’s Hospice. We were proud to have three blood bikes at the helm as Nigel, Ben and Oliver, our latest recruit to the SSBB membership roll, led a few hundred motorcycles and scooters back to the club to enjoy music, an auction, trade stands and motorcycle and scooter stands complemented by a small stunt show.

We were pleased to have received £75 in generous donations to swell the coffers but were even more delighted to raise the awareness of the charity and receive so many enquiries from interested riders as to how they can help us. Gary spoke, in depth, to numerous potential volunteers and we hope that in due course we will see them again when they join the team.

Finally, at two o’clock the sun came out and the team continued to meet and chatted to lots of lovely people. What more could we ask for?

Thank you to the SCMC for inviting us to take part and we hope they raised lots of money for this wonderful hospice.
