Good Morning Folks
In a similar fashion to last nights post about the Rolleston Transport Festival, one of our supporters who represented us at the Lichfield Bower, Helen B, has kindly put together a short article about this event. I hope you enjoy it!
A crowd of 40,000 gave this year’s historical Bower a record attendance. Complemented by some lovely English weather the streets were lined with crowds enjoying the traditional procession through the streets of Lichfield. During the parade, outside the Guildhall, the new Bower Queen was crowned by the Mayor and the carnival atmosphere continued as the parade of military bands, floats, music and dance made their way to Beacon Park where the visitors were entertained with arena attractions including the popular Monster Trucks, a motorbike stunt display team, quad bikes, fun fair and birds of prey displays amongst many others not to mention plenty of food and shopping opportunities. The park was full of stalls and attractions, all in all a fabulous family day out with something for everyone.
Four Shropshire and Staffordshire Blood Bikes made a magnificent sight leading the parade before they ended their journey at Beacon Park. Full size blood bikes plus the minibike were a great draw for both children and adults. Many photos taken and memories made pictured proudly astride our liveried bikes which made a striking display positioned by the official SSBB stand. Our presence at this wonderful event went a long way in raising our profile and heightened awareness of the service the blood bikes offer. The general public kindly donated £136.75 to our fund and further monies from the main collection of the day will be gratefully received at a later date.
A very successful day for SSBB with numerous enquiries received from potential new members and supporters. Thank you to Lichfield Bower for allowing us to join you and to the people of Lichfield for your kind support.
We are extremely pleased with how well the event went and the generosity displayed by the people of Lichfield. As a result, we are very much looking forward to retuning to the festival in 2015!
