On Thursday 1st August, a fundraising event was held at Lynn’s Raven Cafe (http://www.lynnsravencafe.co.uk/) with support from the Raven Riders, to help raise funds for the Shropshire & Staffordshire Blood Bikes Group.
The event was the first of many in which members of the SSBB group (Volunteers) go out into the local community and raise public awareness of what we as an organisation are trying to achieve (An Emergency Volunteer Service aiming to provide urgent and emergency transportation of Blood products, Donor Baby milk and other medical supplies to the NHS Foundations in the Shropshire & Staffordshire area) and hopefully as a result, raise some money for our charity.
Once we have sufficient funds to gain registered charity status, our next financial target is the £10,000 mark, where all being well, this will allow us to purchase two bikes, one for Staffordshire and one for Shropshire, along with the associated costs such as insurance.
Andy Wilson (SSBB Public Fundraising Coordinator) had this to say about the Raven event “We had a great time at the Raven. The weather was very kind and the turn out of bikers was huge with around 700-800 bikes there at its peak. We managed to sell 354 raffle tickets which meant the lucky winner received £177 in winnings. She very kindly donated some of it back to the Blood bikes which meant that once we’d included other donations from the night, a whopping £227.50 was raised for the charity”.
All in all much fun was had by all, and from everyone at SSBB, we would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to those who have and continue to support us.
